Gameplay

The Great Game is a historical interactive fiction game with two perspectives, a noble of Tsarist Russia and an officer of Victorian Britain. In the prologue, you play a Russian noble who travels to Khiva as an envoy. In the main story, you will play as a British East India Company officer.

The Great Game is a game with challenges. You are given limited resources and must make the right choices to survive through the Karakum Desert. Making a wrong decision will result in a waste of resources, betrayal by your companion,  death, and starting the game from the beginning. 

Conserve your resources, make the right choices, and keep your companion loyal as you journey through the Karakum Desert.

Story

The year is 1825. The two most powerful nations on earth – Victorian Britain and Tsarist Russia – are fighting a secret war in the deserts of Central Asia. You are a young Russian military officer who received the Imperial order from the Tsar himself. Travel to Khiva and bring her into the Russian fold. But traveling to Khiva is no easy task. The wide expanse of the Karakum desert, unbearable heat and thirst, Turcoman bandits, and desperation for survival are obstacles you must overcome. But if you are successful, Russia will finally have a ground to challenge British economic dominance in Central Asia. Perhaps, Russia could even conquer British India.

However, the British East India Company cannot let this happen. India has been her Crown Jewel and losing it will mean forfeiting her economic dominance and prestige to Russia. She will send you to thwart the Russian plan. But the time is running out as Russian aggression permeates into Central Asia. The fate of the British Empire lies on your shoulders.
